In the past few years, the Christian movie industry has started to blow up. God's Not Dead is one of the movies that started this segment and started to make them big again. But, about a year before that, Grace Unplugged was released and has so many good messages that it conveys and a lot of life lessons to be learned from it. The movie starts with a flashback to the past showing a concert poster of Johnny Trey and playing his hit song "Misunderstood." Then it flashes forward through his daughter Grace's childhood and goes to present day where she loves singing just as much as he used to. But, she is at the point in life where she wants her independence and wants to do everything on her own. So, Johnny's past manager comes into town and offers him a deal, which he rejects. To which Grace covers his song and sends it to her dad's manager.
Through the rest of the movie, it's about how Grace doesn't know why she's doing what she's doing and what exactly she wants. She falls down plenty of times but always gets back up. Thanks to a friend that she meets, she starts to realize that the whole time, the thing she's been missing wasn't a thing at all. It was God. A huge part of the plot is Grace trying to write a song for her album, which she can't do, no matter how hard she tries. She has bits and pieces throughout but she needed faith in God to finish it and put it together, just like we need God in our everyday lives. A message conveyed throughout this movie is to listen, obey, and follow. Towards the end of the movie, Grace finally finds the words to the song she's been trying to write the whole time because she finally listened to God. That song, titled "All I've Ever Needed" is so open and unguarded and Grace wears her heart on her sleeve, as the song states, because she realized that what she'd been doing and how she'd been doing everything was wrong. Music is so easy to relate to and helps us all understand things and situations so much better and comes from a place deep in our hearts. This movie shows that really well, it also shows the need for family and communication between families. I recommend this movie 100% and I hope you enjoy it as much as I do! Check out the incredible movie!
