For King and Country is a Christian pop band consisting of brothers Joel and Luke Smallbone. They have been an active band since 2007. The popular christian band has a famous sister as well, you might know her as Rebecca St. James. Their first full length album was titled Crave, released in 2012. Two years later they followed it up with the album Run Wild. Live Free. Love Strong. For King and Country have gone on many tours, including the HUGE United States tour, Winter Jam (it's awesome!) This past year they released a single titled Joy. It has peaked at number 2 on the U.S. Christian charts. This song brings a lot of hope and, well joy to the table in the midst of a dark world. When asked about their new song the brothers replied with the following "when you're faced with hardships, when you're faced with trials-- even as a nation-- questions, and division, what do you turn to? Do you turn to finger pointing, do you turn to despair,... anger? Or just maybe in all of it, we turn to joy!" I think what he's trying to say is that when faced with difficult circumstances what do we as humans tend to turn to? What if instead of turning to anger and things like that we turn to joy? Luke also stated this "Happiness, to me, is when everything is going well for you...But when you see somebody with joy and then you find out a hardship that that person's been going through...that must mean that there's something else going on in their life that's trumping all of that noise, and for me, I think it's pursuing the heart of Jesus. I don't know what else breeds joy like that." Wow. What an amazing way to look at it because the only way to find true joy is through Jesus. I think this song is so powerful and a great reminder to live with the ultimate joy. Jesus.
