It's rare for an artist to be multi-generational and still be just as popular as the day they started, if not more than before. When there is someone that is like that, they know what they're doing. In the Christian music industry, there is one artist that blows everyone else out of the water. TobyMac. He is also one of the best people to see in concert because as he ages, he doesn's slow down. In fact, it's hard to tell that he even ages with how involved he is in his concerts, his music, and most importantly his faith in Christ. Coming towards the end of the year in a few months, Mr. Mac has a fresh new album with a very different sound than anything we have heard from him before. From the quiet subdued tones at the beginning of "Scars" to the upbeat middle and ending of the song, he has everything on this album. In an interview, TobyMac stated that this song was written about his son who left home and how it is hard to watch him deal with certain things that happen in life. The song "It's You" is a very deep and heartful and it is probably my favorite song on the album. This album is his eighth studio album and it hit number 2 on the iTunes overall chart this past week. When asked about the album McKeehan said the following, "I still believe a song can move somebody's heart. And I think that's important. It's easy when you've been doing it a long time to grow cold to that. But I haven't. Every song I write, I still think, 'This is for someone out there.' That's the way I go about it." That is so true and I believe that wholeheartedly. Music is something given to us from the Lord and when you hear the right song, it has the ability to move you in a powerful way. This album shows a variety of different vocal styles and powerful lyrics. TobyMac knows how to make a good album and stay relevant with multiple generations. Check out The Elements!
